AHS announces cast for Phantom

Asheboro High School and the Park Street Players are proud to announce the cast for their historic production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. Four performances of the longest running Broadway musical will be presented at the Asheboro High School Performing Arts Center on November 18-20 at 7:00pm and on November 21st at 2:00pm. Students will perform the exact production currently on Broadway.

In June of this year, The Rodgers and Hammerstein Company authorized the release of the performance rights to The Phantom of the Opera, with two area schools among the very first high schools to perform this challenging show. In addition to the AHS production, Southwestern Randolph High School under the direction of Gwen Hall will perform the show in the spring of 2011.

“Mrs. Hall and I both agreed this was an excellent opportunity that we wanted to offer our students. We each felt with the talent currently available in our respective programs, this was the year to do it,” said Phil Homiller, AHS director. “We view the two productions as an opportunity to collaborate and learn from each other while the community benefits from two great productions.”
