Beitzel selected to All-State Jazz Ensemble

Dave Beitzel, a junior trombone player at Asheboro High School, has earned a position in the prestigious All-State Jazz Ensemble.  The All-State Jazz Ensemble is made up of 19 of the finest jazz musicians from across the state, including all school classifications and private schools.  The band will participate in a two day clinic at the NC School of Science and Mathematics and will perform an afternoon concert on April 16th.

Beitzel was recently recognized as the winner of the Piedmont Wind Symphony Concerto Competition and performed with that ensemble on March 4th at Wake Forest University.  He is a member of the ‘Comet Blues’ Jazz Ensemble, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Marching Band at AHS and is also a member of the “Guys Who Will Do Anything For Food” jazz combo. He has been a frequent member of honor bands in both jazz and concert at the county, district, region and state levels.

Dave is the son of Chrisanta and David Beitzel and is a private student of Dr. Randy Kohlenberg and Justin Gerringer.  His instructors at Asheboro High School are Suzanne Benhart and Phil Homiller. The concert on April 16th at NCSSM is free and open to the public.
