Elementary Choral Festival Set for Friday
Asheboro City Schools’ third elementary choral festival will be held Friday, March 27. Festival activities will conclude with a free public concert at 7 p.m. at North Asheboro Middle School (NAMS). The Park Street Ensemble under the direction of Delores Crutchfield from Asheboro High School will also perform.
The elementary choral festival, a vision of city music teachers Sally Barnes, Susan Jarrett and Cindy Watson, provides an opportunity for vocally talented students to be exposed to a guest clinician.
Students from all five City elementary schools were chosen by their music teacher to participate. Students and parents signed letters of commitment for rehearsal attendance, behavior and high academic achievement. Following the selection process, eight weeks of after school rehearsals began.
Students will attend an all day rehearsal on March 27 at Balfour Elementary School with clinician Beth Younts, music director at Uhwarrie Middle School, and Sally Barnes, accompanist.
