FAN Fair set for August 28th

Asheboro City Schools FAN (Family Alliance Network) will be hosting their annual FAN Fair on August 28th from 9:00am to 12noon at Comet Corner on the campus of Asheboro High School. Parents can attend up to three mini-workshops on a variety of topics to help support and advocate for their student.

Topics will include: Positive Guidance and brain development, Healthy meals on a budget, Connected/Integrated Math, Academically Gifted Services, Technology transformation, and more.

The mini workshops will begin on the hour at 9am, 10am, and 11am and will last approximately 45 minutes. Parents can participate in up to three sessions, attending those of greatest interest.

Information booths will also be available in the Professional Development Center where representatives will be available to answer questions on topics like Communities in Schools, AVID, and GEAR UP. Staff will also be on hand to assist parents with completing Free/Reduced lunch applications. New this year will be free blood pressure and glucose checks for adults provided by Randolph Hospital.

Supervised activities and snacks for kids will be available for parents that need child care while attending any of the sessions. Transportation is also available by request, please call 625-5104 X239 or email Dr. Brad Rice at brice@asheboro.k12.nc.us by August 26th to request.   

All workshops are open to the public and many are designed to apply to students of all ages, those that are grade specific will be identified. Informational flyers will be available at all schools during open house events, August 23-24 and is posted on the district website under the parent tab on the upper right side of the home page, www.asheboro.k12.nc.us.
