A. The B. Frank Barham Excellence in Mathematics Award:
*awarded to a senior who has completed (or is currently enrolled in) calculus and is ranked in the top 25% of the class.
B. The Redding Scholarship for Excellence:
*awarded to a senior who is ranked in the top 10% of the class and has been active in extracurricular activities.
C. The T. Henry Redding Scholarship for Achievement:
*awarded to a senior who is ranked in the top 20% of the class, who has enjoyed academic achievement, and who has been involved in community and scholastic activities; the recipient must be planning to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. One scholarship will be awarded at $1,000 per year for four years.
D. The Brooke Upchurch Phillips Scholarship:
*given in memory of Brooke Phillips (a former Asheboro High School student) to a senior ranking in the top 30 in the class who is a NC Scholar, enrolled in Honors/AP courses, has financial need, and has demonstrated effort in school, community, and employment activities.
E. Fennell, Fields, Stone Scholarship:
*awarded in memory of Chris Fennell, Joseph B. Fields and Lee J. Stone (former Asheboro educators) to a student athlete or musician who plans to pursue a career in education.
F. The Richard Harrington Scholarship:
*given in memory of Richard Harrington (a former Asheboro educator) to a senior who plans to pursue a career in education.
G. The Dr. Bob W. Gordon Scholarship:
*given in honor of Dr. Gordon who served as superintendent for Asheboro City Schools. Applicants must have a "B" average or better and plan to pursue a career in the field of education or a related field (social work, school counselor) at a four-year university. This scholarship is not based on need.
H. The Sodexo Services Scholarship:
*recognizes an AHS senior who is a citizen in the school and community, possesses ethical integrity and civic responsibility, is involved in extracurricular activities, is an academic achiever, and has financial need. Preference is given to a student pursuing a degree in the Hospitality field.
I. The Derek Kesler Scholarship:
*given in memory of Derek Kesler, a former student at Asheboro High School. Applicants must have a sound academic record and be active in community, a good role model, and self-disciplined in studies. Need is a factor. Three recommendations (including one from a current teacher) are required for this scholarship.
J. C. Reitzel Smith Memorial Scholarship
· Student accepted to an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university
· Student in the top 20% of class
· Preference given to a student entering the field of business, finance or marketing
· Student demonstrates good moral character
· Involved in extra-curricular activities
· Demonstrated service to community
· Financial need
· Requires two letters of recommendation (1 teacher, 1 community)
K. The Dr. Gurdial S. and Mrs. Surinder Walha Scholarship
· Female in the top 15% of class
· Course work includes advanced math or science classes (i.e. AP or Honors)
· Demonstrated financial need
· Preference given to a student pursing a career in the medial field
L. The Lee Phoenix Scholarship
· Demonstrated financial need
· Student in top 25% of class
· Student demonstrates good moral character
· Involved in extra-curricular activities
N. The Centennial Scholarship: In honor of ACS 100th birthday
· Excelled in all aspects as a student - in the classroom, community, athletics, and extra-curricular activities
O. JB and Claire Davis - Scholarship of Excellence:
- Son or daughter of Klaussner employee
- Student accepted to an accredited two or four year university/college
- Student in top 25% of class
- Student demonstrates good moral character
- Involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities (school or community)
- Requires two letters of recommendation (teacher, coach, employer, etc.)
P. The Asheboro Business Community Scholarship
· Student has excelled academically at AHS
· Involved in extra-curricular activities
· Maintains a part-time job in community
Q. The Pam Hill Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Pam’s family in honor of her service on the Asheboro City Board of Education and life-long commitment to public service.
· Student demonstrates the dedication and aptitude for a career in public service
R. Express Personnel Services Scholarship
· Student accepted into an accredited 4 year college or university
· Preference given to a student entering the field of Human Services or a related field
· Student in top 20% of class
· Involved in Community Service
· Must have 2 letters of recommendation (1 teacher and 1 community)
· Demonstrates financial need
S. Ruby B. Smith Memorial Scholarship
Ruby Bass Smith was a beloved math teacher at Asheboro High School. Former students, family and friends established this scholarship to pay tribute to her legacy.

— Preference given to a student pursuing a degree in the math or science field
— Along with completed application, submit a statement outlining college and career aspirations
— Letter of recommendation from math or science teacher from junior or senior year
T. Toby Cain Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Toby Cain by his many friends and classmates who were members of the AHS Class of 1981.

U. Doug Jones Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in member of Dr. Doug Jones by his loving family and friends.
