Choose to Lose program for 6-8 grade students and parents from Oct 7 – Nov 10 
Choose to Lose program for the school staff in March 2011

School Health Advisory Council
The Asheboro City Schools School Health Advisory Council sponsored a community hike on Saturday, October 23.  The group hiked about four miles in the Uwharrie Forest.

The SHAC has also planned four focus topics (Stress Reduction, Nutrition, Fitness, and Tobacco Reduction) that will be shared with the schools each quarter. 
 

Balfour School

Balfour hosted a one mile walk/run for students and their families on October 15th.

Charles W. McCrary School

Charles W. McCrary will have "Girls on the Run" again this year.  This program encourages pre-teen girls to develop self respect and healthy lifestyles through running.
 

Donna Lee Loflin School

Donna Lee Loflin will begin the Project Fit America program for students.  The dedication was October 19, 2010.

The  Donna Lee Loflin Physical Education teacher, Mr. Bunting, created an indoor walking and fitness program in which teachers participate.

North Asheboro Middle School

North Asheboro Middle School has planned an after-school workout club for our staff.  This project will start in late October.

Asheboro High School

 Asheboro High School has a  group of teachers who have started an exercise group.  The "Project Fitness: Let's Get Up and Get Moving" group is beginning with walking together as well as stretching and resistance exercises.
