In an
effort to support our teachers and ensure quality instruction for our students,
Asheboro City Schools will close for students on May 16, 2018. This will be an
optional teacher workday to allow those who wish to participate in the event in
Raleigh the flexibility to do so. While we appreciate the efforts over the past
few years by the general assembly to support public education, we recognize
there is still much work to be done on behalf of our staff and students.
As with all
optional teacher workdays, we anticipate some staff will be in their classroom
preparing lessons, or participating in online professional development.
Additionally, we are developing plans to have our cafeterias open for lunch,
along with plans to provide lunches in the community so students will continue
to have a nutritious meal available. Athletic events scheduled for May 16th
will continue as originally planned.
Due to the
number of instructional hours built into our school calendar, students will not
be required to make up the student day.
